I am Stas Gorelik, a recent PhD graduate from the George Washington University (Washington, DC), where I completed my dissertation in political science.

My academic research focuses on ostensibly legal and subtle forms of electoral and public opinion manipulation.

As part of this research agenda, I have examined voter reactions to candidate disqualifications and pro-government election rallies in Russia using survey experiments, as well as the electoral performance of clone (namesake) candidates in Ukraine through an original dataset of relevant electoral and biographical data.

I also have experience collecting and analyzing data for research projects on online propaganda and disinformation in Belarus, as well as elite networks in Russia.

Originally from Belarus, I am fluent in Belarusian and Russian, and have near-native comprehension of Ukrainian.
